Charitable Involvement
Giving back
Harlem Gospel Choir has traveled the world for 26 years sharing its joy of faith. The theme of every performance is “bringing people & nations together & giving something back”.
In the USA the choir has partnered with Feed The Children (for whom it raised over $60,000) and it has performed at a number of charity functions, including: ABC TV’s 2008 Coat Drive (the choir helped to collect over 50,000 coats for the homeless); The Food Bank of New Jersey; the Voices of September 11 which provides aid & support for families of victims of September 11; and Paul Newman’s Hole in the Wall Gang camps which provide wonderful outdoor experiences for children with terminal cancer.
Harlem Gospel Choir performed at the Tabernacle on Martha’s Vineyard to raise funds for families of both Ft. Bragg soldiers fighting in Iraq & Afghanistan and for the NAACP. It also performed with Ashford & Simpson at BB King Blues Club to raise funds for the Jewish Charity Save A Heart which provides affordable heart surgery for seriously ill children in Israel.
The choir believe that children are our future and it joins forces with local children’s charities whenever possible, both at home and on tour. Currently the choir is proud to partner with Operation Smile, a charity that provides free corrective operations to children born with cleft defects. The choir donate all the proceeds from the sale of its signature orange silicone wrist bands to Operation Smile as well as the profits from the sale of its CD’s at concerts worldwide.
